Producer: Gevrey Chambertin
The Gevrey-Chambertin appellation covers 400 hectares and is located at Gevrey, the largest production area in the Côte de Nuits. The Gevrey-Chambertin wines express the richness and diversity of the Burgundy terroir. Full of colour, their intense aromas evoke blackcurrants and other small red and dark fruits with gamey undertones, and often liquorice once the wine has matured. Strong, with beautifully mellow tannins, they have just the right amount of sharpness. These structured, robust wines are designed for keeping.
The colour is a bright ruby, turning to deep carmine or dark cerise with age. Strawberry, mulberry, violet, mignonette, and rose all help to make up their bouquet of spontaneous aromas. More maturity brings out liquorice, leather and fur. On the palate, they impress by their firm structure, velvety tannins and delicate texture.
